Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced plans for a modern film city at the 62nd Maharashtra State Marathi Film Awards ceremony. Maharashtra has already approved a film city at Igatpuri, Nashik district, on the lines of Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Mumbai. The proposed facility would have advanced technology, indoor studios, outdoor sets and other professional production infrastructure for films, television serials, web series and advertisements. It is expected to create opportunities for local actors, technicians, cameramen, set designers, makeup artists and other entertainment professionals, and benefit hotels, transport operators, restaurants and allied businesses. The project is also expected to support Nashik’s tourism and creative economy. The final site, land area, project cost and commencement date have not been finalised.

The Meteorological Department forecast possible cloudburst-like rainfall in Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri, Nashik Rural, Peth, Surgana and Dindori talukas. The immediate threat eased as cloud formations and cyclonic systems shifted towards Palghar, Ahilyanagar and Surat, but continuous rain raised river levels across Nashik district. The administration has been on high alert since Tuesday.

Collector Ayush Prasad inspected villages in Igatpuri taluka. Heavy rain in Igatpuri and Trimbakeshwar filled rivers to capacity, and the Trimbakeshwar–Khodala road was closed. Motorists were warned about soil and debris at points along the Old Kasara Highway.

Prasad inspected the Darna River bridge between Nandgaon Sado and Bhavli, a popular tourist spot. He ordered security personnel deployed and said the bridge should be closed to traffic if water flows over it. Sub-Divisional Officer, Igatpuri-Trimbakeshwar, Assistant District Collector Dr G.V.S. Pawan Datta and Tehsildar Abhijit Baravkar attended. No major damage was reported; Prasad said the situation was under control.

Some areas in the Trimbakeshwar-Igatpuri-Nashik belt could receive up to 300 mm in a short period, raising risks of flash floods, landslides and waterlogging.

Schools and colleges in Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri, Peth, Dindori and Surgana talukas, and weekly markets there, were closed. Trimbakeshwar Temple and Saptashrungi Temple at Vani were shut until Wednesday morning. Authorities may close flood- and landslide-prone roads and barricaded waterfalls, forts and tourist spots.

Residents in low-lying areas were advised to seek safer places if needed and avoid unnecessary travel and flooded roads. Farmers were told to stay out of fields. An SDRF team was called from Dhule; departmental control rooms were activated, reservoir levels will be monitored, and health staff leave was cancelled. Railway officials were alerted because the Mumbai-Delhi route passes through Igatpuri.

Mahindra & Mahindra submitted a letter of interest to the Maharashtra government to acquire 350 acres in Igatpuri. The land could host a supplier park or expanded facilities supporting its Nashik and Igatpuri plants. Executive Director Rajesh Jejurikar said the proposal is preliminary and remains subject to due diligence and internal and regulatory approvals.

CEO of the Automotive Division Nalinikanth Gollagunta said Mahindra plans to add around 2.4 lakh units of annual production capacity at its Chakan plant in the first phase this year, taking total capacity to 7.5–7.6 lakh units per year. The company is exploring greenfield locations for production capacity beyond 2027 and plans to invest over ₹27,000 crore in its automotive business between FY25 and FY27.
