The nearly 3-km-long road will be completed within 18 months and is part of a comprehensive development plan to create alternative arterial corridors. The new stretch is expected to reduce heavy traffic burden on the busy Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan road.

The project followed BDA's acquisition of around 18 acres of private land under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. A social impact assessment identified over 150 affected individuals across Chandrasekharpur, Patia and Gadakana.

Once operational, the road will improve connectivity to residential areas including Patia, Chandrasekharpur, Gadakana and Damana, and enhance access to Patia railway station and nearby IT and institutional hubs, including Infocity. The project is part of a larger plan to develop six alternative roads—three on each side of the Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan corridor—to streamline traffic flow. Experts believe the new road could boost economic activity in the Patia belt by driving up land value and encouraging commercial development.
