It is famous for having BATA shoe factory too. It is situated on the bank of holy river Ganga in the western part of Patna. Few kilometers away from Digha is Danapur Cantt. The under-construction new Road-cum-Rail bridge which is connecting North and South Bihar is passing through Digha. This has given impetus to Residential and Commercial activities in Digha. Prices of land has started shooting up. A new Railway Station has come up in Patliputra which is close to Digha. Schools, Colleges, Hospitals, Shopping Malls, Commercial Complexes, Markets are located around Digha. From the heart of Patna i.e. Gandhi Maidan, it is a straight drive of 15 mins. to reach Digha. The Patna-Digha road has been widened to 150 feet to ensure congestion free traffic movement. Eastern part of the Patna which has become now densely populated, people are shifting towards Digha for their residential purposes. In recent times, many multi-storey apartments have come up in the area. Land available in the area offers very profitable investment opportunity.

Digha-Sonpur Six-Lane Bridge Completion Delayed Until December 2028

Kurji Nala stretches 4.26 km from Ashiana-Digha Road to Kurji drainage pumping station. Anandpuri Nala is approximately 4 km long, running from Baba Chowk past Atal Path and AN College to Rajapur Pul drainage pumping station.
Both projects involve concrete lining of open drains and construction of two-lane roads on top. The CM stated the projects will eliminate waterlogging in surrounding areas, improve commuting, and contribute to cleaner urban landscape.
Kumar recalled inspecting both drains during Pragati Yatra on February 21, 2025, when locals highlighted waterlogging issues. He directed that drains be properly repaired and roads built over them.
Patna has experienced severe monsoon waterlogging, with low-lying residential colonies along these drains among the worst affected. The projects are part of broader efforts to strengthen the city's drainage network and reduce inundation in densely populated neighbourhoods.

Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin and the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) said the gaps were expansion joints, not structural cracks. BSRDCL managing director Shirsat Kapil Ashok said a 10 mm gap between the dirt wall and main bridge on the Didarganj approach allows expansion and contraction; displaced filler has been refilled. An internal probe and a third-party safety audit mandated by the state Road Construction Department are underway, and a bridge maintenance policy is being formulated. The 20.5-km expressway runs along the southern bank of the Ganga from Digha to Didarganj. Founded in 2013 in memory of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, it was developed in four phases for ₹3,831 crore to ease Patna traffic and connect JP Setu and Mahatma Gandhi Setu.
