A 67.8-km spur from the Delhi-Mumbai expressway connecting Bandikui with Jaipur through a four-lane access-controlled road will open for traffic trial from mid-July. Currently, Delhi to Bandhrej takes around 2.5 hours (245 km) on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, then another 1.5 hours (69 km) on the congested NH 44 Jaipur-Agra highway. With the spur operational, total Delhi-Jaipur travel time will reduce to approximately 3 to 3.25 hours, a saving of about one hour. The spur reduces the distance between Delhi and Jaipur by 12 km. Construction cost was ₹1,368 crore, completed over 2.5 years. The expressway features four lanes with paved shoulders and an interchange at Bandikui connecting to the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. NHAI is also planning a greenfield expressway project to connect Jaipur with the Delhi-Agra highway to further reduce congestion on NH 44.
