MP Requests New Metro Line Through Dange Chowk to Chaturshrungi

Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne requested the central government to prepare a detailed project report for a new metro route from Kiwale through Ravet, Dange Chowk, Kalewadi, and Jagtap Dairy to Chaturshrungi.

Shiv Sena Maval MP Shrirang Barne met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Delhi and requested preparation of a new metro route from Kiwale - Ravet - Dange Chowk - Kalewadi - Jagtap Dairy to Chaturshrungi with a Detailed Project Report (DPR). Barne stated that Pimpri-Chinchwad and PMC areas are among India's fastest-growing urban centres with rapid population increase and rising vehicle numbers causing severe traffic congestion. Currently, Pune Metro operates on the Dapodi to Pimpri route in Pimpri-Chinchwad, and work has begun on extending from Nigdi to Bhakti Shakti Chowk as per Union Cabinet approval. Barne argued the proposed route is critical for industrial, educational, and residential purposes and would provide sustainable solution to traffic problems. He requested administrative and technical procedures be initiated to prepare the DPR for this route.

Three box-structure underpasses have been approved at high-traffic intersections including Punawale, Kiwale, Ravet and Wakad. Widening underpasses at Tathawade and Punawale and expediting pending service-road works across three localities have also been approved. Upgrades to the Aundh-Ravet BRTS Road and a connection between Tathawade Road and Dange Chowk are under consideration.

Tathawade is roughly 8 km from Hinjewadi IT Park; IT hubs in Wakad, Hinjewadi and Baner are within 12 km of Punawale. Proposed Nigdi Station on the Purple Metro Line is about 5 km from Punawale. Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line-3 is in advanced stages.

Housing.com gives average flat rates of ₹7,782 per sq. ft. in Tathawade, up 8.75% last year, and a 6.9% one-year increase in Punawale.
