The CBS–Canada Corner road in Nashik was concreted four months ago but was excavated near Kulkarni Garden to lay utility lines for a Smart City Company project. Corporator Dr Hemlata Patil objected and halted the contractor’s work; no Municipal Corporation or Smart City Company engineer was present. She alleged public funds were being wasted and questioned why utilities, including CCTV ducts, were not planned before concreting. Patil had the excavated section filled with soil and called for an inquiry, road repairs, and no resumption of work without the Commissioner’s written permission. Repeated road digging for gas pipelines, main water pipes and fibre-optic cables is causing inconvenience amid development projects ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
ED Searches Nashik Office in Probe Into Alleged Property Holdings

The ED searched Ashok Kharat’s sealed Nashik office, examining documents and digital records linked to suspected benami properties and alleged money laundering.

The Enforcement Directorate conducted a second search on April 17 at the Oaks Property Office in Nashik’s Canada Corner, sealed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on March 26. The ED is examining digital and financial evidence under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The SIT shared more than 80 property documents, 52 land entries (7/12 extracts), cheque books, receipts, registers, computers, hard disks and pen drives with the ED. The records cover Nashik, Pune and Solapur.
Assets under scrutiny include the Nashik office, estimated at ₹1.5 crore; a Shirdi wedding lawn valued at ₹10–12 crore; nearly 25 acres in Solapur and Sinnar estimated at ₹15 crore; and a Karmayogi Nagar bungalow worth about ₹5 crore. Other properties include a Mirgaon farmhouse valued at about ₹10 crore, land near Pathardi, Pune residences including Koregaon Park row houses, a Model Colony apartment estimated at ₹3–4 crore, and flats in Shirdi. Investigators are also examining land in the Sinnar-Ghoti belt. The ED previously searched 13 locations across Nashik, Mumbai, Pune and Shirdi.
