Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh announced major road and drainage upgrade for Burari. The 7.1-km Burari Road corridor runs from Outer Ring Road through Baba Colony and Nathupura to Hiranki. 3.2-km bituminous stretch: Outer Ring Road-Baba Colony and Nathupura-Hiranki sections. 3.9-km Baba Colony-Nathupura RCC road estimated at Rs 39 crore. Nathupura-Hiranki section estimated at Rs 9 crore. Central verge to be constructed along entire 7.1-km stretch. 9.3-km comprehensive drainage network estimated at Rs 75 crore to address waterlogging. Drainage covers Amrit Vihar-Bengali Colony stretch (drains on both sides) and Swaroop Nagar More-Burari Creek stretch. Drainage work already tendered; road work to be tendered within 10 days. Objective to upgrade entire corridor in integrated manner with coordinated execution. Until reconstruction begins, water sprinkling to control dust.

A building collapsed in Burari, Delhi on 27 January 2025. Ten people were rescued from the site. The Delhi Chief Minister posted on social media assuring all possible help would be extended to affected people, describing the incident as extremely sad.

PM Modi inaugurated the Majlis Park-Maujpur-Babarpur section of the Pink Line and the Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park stretch of the Magenta Line on Sunday, alongside laying foundation stones for development projects worth ₹33,500 crore in Delhi.

Pink Line: Extended to 71.56 kilometres, completing India's first fully operational "ring metro" around Delhi. Stations on this stretch: Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Soorghat, Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Maujpur-Babarpur. Features a new bridge over the Yamuna and double-decker viaduct carrying metro track and road flyover. Strengthens connectivity between north-east and north-west Delhi.

Magenta Line: Extended to approximately 49 kilometres. Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park stretch includes seven elevated stations: Madhuban Chowk, Uttar Pitampura-Prashant Vihar, Haiderpur Village, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalswa.

Foundation stones laid for three Phase 5(A) corridors: Central Vista corridor (9.913km underground, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha), Golden Line extension to IGI Airport Terminal-1 (2.263km underground), Golden Line extension Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj (3.9km elevated). Expected to strengthen links to NCR cities: Noida, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh.

Foundation stones also laid for GPRA colonies redevelopment worth ₹15,200 crore. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta stated metro expansion improves public transport; 2025-26 budget prioritises public transport.

More than 70% of civil work has been completed across Delhi Metro’s three priority Phase IV corridors. The nearly complete 4.6-kilometre stretch between Majlis Park and Jagatpur Village began initial trial runs in late December 2024. It includes Burari, Jharoda Majra and Jagatpur Village stations, which will open after statutory approvals and certifications.

The first Phase IV stretch, Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension, opened to passengers on January 5, 2025. The foundation stone for the Rithala–Kundli corridor was also laid that day. DMRC is building about 112 kilometres of new Metro lines across Delhi and recorded three tunnel breakthroughs on the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor in the previous two months.

DMRC cited the COVID-19 pandemic and delays in obtaining tree-cutting permissions as causes of project delays. Substantial work has continued for the past 1.5 to two years, with completion targeted by 2026.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena announced that DDA special camps under PM-UDAY scheme received 1,028 new applications for ownership rights in first two days. Results: 6,654 people participated across 10 camps, 275 applications approved, 231 conveyance deeds/authorisation slips executed, 710 old applications had flaws removed.

PM-UDAY (Prime Minister-Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana) aims to grant ownership rights to residents of 1,731 unauthorised colonies in Delhi by providing legal recognition of properties.

Camps held every Saturday and Sunday from November 30 to December 29, 2024 at 10 processing centres in Burari, Najafgarh, Aya Nagar Ext, Karawal Nagar, Budh Vihar Colony, Nangloi, Khirki Extension, Malviya Nagar, and New Ashok Nagar.
