• A section of road near Bapat Square in Indore caved in within days of being repaired.
• The cave-in left a hole about 4-5 feet wide and nearly one foot deep.
• The damaged stretch was a serious hazard for commuters; several two-wheeler riders narrowly escaped falls and motorists had to brake suddenly.
• This is the third road cave-in in the city in the past fortnight.
• Earlier this month, a road near Gorakund Square was damaged during testing of a newly laid water pipeline after water burst out under high pressure.
• Another collapse at Valmiki Basti in Gadi Adda created a pit nearly 20 feet deep.
• A recent survey commissioned by Indore Municipal Corporation through four agencies found more than 70 roads across the city in poor condition.

• Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has started developing the road stretch from Chandragupta Maurya Square to Bapat Square as a model road.
• The corridor was badly damaged over several months due to Metro construction.
• IMC began restoration and beautification work after receiving compensation funds from Metro project authorities.
• Both carriageways are being resurfaced with asphalting.
• Green belts along the route will be upgraded and landscaped.
• Dividers built during Metro work will be redesigned and decorated.
• The plan includes colourful plants, decorative lighting on dividers, and specially designed green zones on several sections.
• The road connects Vijay Nagar, Bapat Square, Chandragupta Maurya Square and nearby areas.
• Municipal officials said the work is being done in phases to create an “ideal road” with improved infrastructure, greenery and decorative lighting for commuters and residents.

Indore’s 11 km elevated Yellow Line extension, connecting Super Corridor-1 to Malviya Nagar Chauraha (Radisson Square), opened on September 5, 2026. The inauguration was attended by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The extension adds 11 stations, bringing the line to 16 stations across approximately 17 km. Its existing 5.9 km, five-station section between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor-1 opened in 2025.

Nearby destinations include colony parks and food stalls at Hira Nagar; Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Statue & Memorial Plaza, Bapat Square Hanuman Mandir and Sukhliya Water Tank Food Lane at Bapat Square; and C21 Mall and Velocity III Miraj Cinemas at Malviya Nagar Chauraha.

• Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) is constructing a six-lane flyover at Dewas Naka Square in Indore.
• The flyover is 900 metres long, started about six months ago, costs ₹74.48 crore, and is expected to be completed by 2026.
• A trial traffic diversion plan starts on February 3.
• Vehicles from Satyasai to Manglia must use New Loha Mandi instead of Dewas Naka Square.
• In the next two to three days, MPRDC will begin work on one lane between Dewas Naka Square and Laxmi Petrol Pump, forcing vehicles in both directions onto alternate routes.
• Vehicles from Bapat Square to Manglia will turn left at Prakash Petrol Pump, pass NIFD College, turn right at New Loha Mandi Square, then go via Diesel Car Service and Tiranga Tiraha to CKD Dhaba.
• Vehicles from Nipania Square to Manglia will use the same route via New Loha Mandi Square.
• Heavy vehicles from Manglia to Khandwa must use the bypass road from the Manglia toll booth instead of entering Manglia village.
• Vehicles from Manglia will be diverted right at CKD Dhaba and travel on the opposite lane to reach Dewas Naka.
• If the trial works well, the diversion will remain in place for four to five months.
