The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will develop two major housing projects under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme to provide residential and infrastructure facilities to over 300,000 people and create new employment opportunities.

Udyog Nagar: 5,610 acres along Agra Expressway. Land identified in villages: Bhalia, Adampur Indwara, Bahru, Jaliyamau, Madarpur, Ibrahimganj, Nakataura, Gahalwara, Tejkrishna Kheda, Revari, Sakra, and Dona, falling under Sadar and Sarojini Nagar tehsils.

Naimish Nagar: 2,504 acres in Bakshi Ka Talab tehsil along Sitapur-Raitha road. Villages identified: Bhauli, Lakshmipur, Purba Gaon, Purva, Sairpur, Farrukhabad, Kodri Bhauli, Kamalabad, Kamalapur, Palhari, Gopramou, Barumou, Dhatingra, and Saidapur.

Both schemes aim to drive large-scale development in industry, health, education and logistics sectors. Housing and urban planning department secretary Balkar Singh directed LDA officials to re-examine schemes and prepare detailed action plan within one week for seed capital sanctioning from CM Urban Expansion Fund. Review also covered ongoing IT and wellness cities projects.

The Lucknow Development Authority launched 3,105 residential plots across two townships, with online applications opening September 24, 2026. Plot sizes range from 72 to 450 sq. metres.

• Varun Vihar: Nearly 6,580 acres; 1,926 plots in Phase 1—1,218 in Kailash Khand and 708 in Kashi Khand. Located near Mohan Road and the Agra Expressway.
• Naimish Nagar: Around 3,600 acres; 1,179 plots in Phase 1—669 in Brahma Khand and 510 in Bhoomi Khand. Located in Bakshi Ka Talab, near Sitapur Road, IIM Road and IIM Lucknow.

Prices are tied to official land rates. Applicants pay a 10% deposit, or 5% for reserved categories; successful applicants pay the balance in instalments. A computerised draw allocates plots, and unsuccessful applicants receive refunds. Applicants must be Indian citizens aged at least 18 and must not already own a plot or house allotted by the local housing board within city limits. EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG categories are included. Site preparation and phased construction of roads, drainage and power lines have begun.

• Lucknow Development Authority is set to launch the Naimish Nagar Housing Scheme in August 2026. The township is planned along the IIM Road–Sitapur Road corridor in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT), North Lucknow.
• The scheme is described as covering 2,504 acres; the township is also stated to span approximately 3,681.69 acres.
• Plots are expected to cost ₹2,500–₹3,000 per sq ft.

Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) is a Nagar Panchayat with 19 wards, a tehsil headquarters and a community development block; it is not part of Lucknow Municipal Corporation. The tehsil covers 221 villages and about 418 sq km. Some villages are within the Lucknow Development Authority’s 197-village planning area; most fall under the Zila Panchayat. Buyers are advised to verify the jurisdiction and land use before purchasing, amid reports of illegal plotting and agricultural land marketed as residential.

The 104-km, eight-lane Lucknow Outer Ring Road/Kisan Path (NH-230) starts and ends at BKT, linking Sultanpur, Kanpur, Faizabad, Kursi and Sitapur roads, and Mohanlalganj. NH-30, the operational BKT railway station on the Lucknow–Bareilly line, and Lucknow Air Force Station are also in the area. Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is roughly 28–30 km away, a 45–60-minute off-peak drive. BKT is not on the operational Lucknow Metro; no confirmed line or timeline exists as of mid-2026.

The town had around 49,000 residents in the 2011 Census; the wider tehsil had about 3.5 lakh. Indicative plot prices are ₹800–₹2,200 per sq ft, depending on corridor.
