NCR transport corporation (NCRTC) executing 82km Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project says trial runs on 5km section from New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi likely to start end of February 2025. NCRTC currently focused on inauguration of 13km link from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, expected by Prime Minister on December 29. Total 82km RRTS project cost ₹30,274 crore, scheduled completion June 2025, to connect Delhi, Ghaziabad, Meerut with Namo Bharat trains. Already operational: 42km section Sahibabad to Meerut (south) with nine stations in Uttar Pradesh. Viaduct and overbridge across Yamuna complete for 5km pending Delhi section; overhead equipment installation and track laying underway. Four RRTS sections operational: Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, Duhai to Modinagar (north), Modinagar (north) to Meerut (south), and soon Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar. Anand Vihar station will be multi-modal transit hub with Metro (Blue, Pink lines), Indian Railways, and roadways buses from ISBT Anand Vihar and ISBT Kaushambi. New Ashok Nagar station connected to Metro Blue line to Noida. 900-metre footover bridge under construction to connect Ghaziabad RRTS station to Metro New Bus Adda station. Ghaziabad municipal corporation finalised tender for multi-level parking near New Bus Adda Metro and RRTS Ghaziabad stations, expected January 2025 start.
