The proposed underpass on NH-16 near Netaji Bridge connects Krishnalanka and Ranigari Thota to MG Road. The Rs 3-crore project aims to improve connectivity between Krishnalanka, Ranigari Thota, Veterinary Colony and Bandar Road. It will ease traffic movement, provide seamless route for commuters to Veterinary Hospital and Bandar Road, reduce travel time and improve road safety. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) floated tenders three times. Each round attracted only one or two bidders, all rejected for lack of mandatory bridge-construction experience. The project has been delayed nearly six months since approval and fund sanction. Residents have demanded the underpass for nearly a decade and express frustration over continued delays and safety risks. Local MLA reportedly expressed displeasure over tender failures. Residents urge NHAI to attract qualified contractors and expedite project award and completion.
