Vadaj Flyover Opens, Connecting Usmanpura, Ranip and Gandhi Ashram

Ahmedabad’s ₹128-crore, four-lane Vadaj flyover is expected to benefit over 1.5 lakh commuters and improve links across several neighbourhoods.

Key facts

The four-lane Vadaj flyover will be inaugurated on Thursday, September 24. Built in two years at a cost of ₹128 crore, it has two wings connecting Usmanpura and Ranip, plus a 365-metre link between Gandhi Ashram and Usmanpura. Its left side is 670 metres long and its right side 700 metres; parking is provided underneath. It is expected to benefit more than 1.5 lakh people and improve connectivity between Ashram Road and Ranip, and Usmanpura, Gandhi Ashram, Bhimjipura, Dudheshwar and Shahibaug.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will dedicate six projects worth ₹279.80 crore, including a four-lane railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad–Botad line costing ₹98.60 crore and 329 EWS houses in Thaltej costing ₹22.24 crore. Fifteen fire brigade first-response vehicles and 10 boats with engines will also be flagged off. The CM will lay foundations for six projects worth ₹304.05 crore, including road, drainage, bus-charging, depot and tourism infrastructure.
