The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) ordered the builder of Sunworld Vandita, a group-housing project in Sector 22D, to refund 64 petitioners’ full deposits with 12% interest within two months. Late payment will attract 15% annual interest, and each buyer must receive ₹25,000 in litigation costs.

YEIDA allotted the plot on 16 August 2011; the builder launched the project and began bookings in 2012. About 1,400 buyers invested, paying 20%–80% of the flat price by 2013 and signing builder-buyer agreements. Buyers found no construction during a 2017 site visit and approached the NCDRC in 2018. The commission heard the case on 31 August and rejected the builder’s claim that farmers’ petitions and litigation caused delays beyond its control, holding the builder responsible for approvals and compliance. Some buyers had submitted original agreements and receipts seeking refunds; one post-dated cheque bounced for insufficient funds.
