Sobha Forest View’s owners association opened a command centre to monitor 266 CCTV cameras across the 889-flat complex in Kanakapura.

Sobha Forest View Apartments Owners Association established a command centre to monitor more than 266 high-definition CCTV cameras. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh inaugurated it on Saturday. The cameras were installed from 2016 under the Garuda CCTV Project, a collaboration between the Change Makers of Kanakapura Road Association and Bengaluru City Police.

The complex has 889 flats, around 3,500 residents, eight towers with three lifts each, and about 1,200 vendors and visitors entering daily. The centre has wireless emergency alerts, a system to notify security when someone is trapped in a lift, and a process to switch lifts to operational or manual mode when an ambulance arrives.

Association president Siva Nittala said the cameras and command centre cost ₹30 lakh to ₹40 lakh. The complex has 58 security guards, including supervisors; the association said improved monitoring may reduce that number in future. Joint secretary Kiran Kumar said the facility would help people trapped in lifts or needing medical care. Lokesh said other apartment associations should replicate the initiative.

Sobha Forest View residents say Cauvery water deliveries fell sharply despite paying nearly ₹13 crore for a connection, and an alleged illegal tap was disconnected.

Residents of Sobha Forest View Apartment in Kanakapura say BWSSB’s Cauvery water supply has fallen over the past three months. After connections were provided last year, the apartment initially received 16–20 lakh litres once a week; deliveries later dropped from 20 lakh litres to 3–4 lakh litres.

Residents say they paid nearly ₹13 crore to BWSSB, including ₹1.23 crore for a dedicated line from Balaji Layout 100 Feet Road, Vajrahalli, to the apartment. After residents complained, MLA Somashekar directed senior BWSSB officials to investigate. An alleged illegal tap from the main line to another layout was disconnected the next day, but supply remained low. Residents raised the issue with the Karnataka Chief Minister’s OSD office and again asked the MLA to intervene. Sobha Forest View president Shiva Nittala said residents had paid close to ₹13.5 crore and continued paying monthly water bills.
