Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) approved a new corridor linking Shastri Park with Mayur Vihar Phase III, 13.197 km long with approximately 8 stations. The route aims to improve connectivity across East Delhi's trans-Yamuna region, addressing heavy dependence on road transport and multiple metro interchanges. Announced by Rekha Gupta during DMRC's 32nd Foundation Day event in May 2026. The corridor is among seven new Metro routes approved under Delhi Metro Phase V(B). These seven corridors together will add approximately 97.158 km and 65 stations to the Delhi Metro network at an estimated cost of Rs 48,204.56 crore. The proposal requires forwarding to the Central government for final approval.

Delhi Metro Phase V(B) includes a new corridor connecting Shastri Park and Mayur Vihar Phase-III. The corridor aims to address traffic congestion, bus wait times, overcrowded roads, and rising travel costs for residents of East Delhi and North East Delhi.
