The 2.7-km stretch of Nehru Path from Rupaspur to Saguna Mor will be widened to 14 lanes through construction of box drains on both sides and addition of two service lanes on each side. Current six-lane carriageway will be expanded. Project cost: Rs 318 crore. Target completion: December. Work on box drains recently commenced. Expansion driven by rapid urban growth; population in area increased tenfold over past decade causing severe traffic congestion. Hundreds of new colonies, residential apartment complexes, shopping complexes, retail outlets and marriage halls have developed along both sides over past two decades. Project announced by CM Nitish Kumar during Pragati Yatra in February last year. Executed by road construction department (RCD). Nehru Path from Saguna Mor to Income-Tax Golambar is traffic signal-free following Lohia Path Chakra Project completion. After widening, smooth traffic flow will be available from Dakbungla Roundabout to Danapur.

The 7.39-km Danapur–Patliputra stretch was due by September 2027; its new completion deadline is September 2030, with around 70% of work completed. Elevated stations at Danapur, Saguna Mor and RPS Mor are under construction. Work between RPS Mor and Patliputra station continues, with slab installation and station construction pending. A ramp between Patliputra and Rukanpura will connect the elevated section to the underground tunnel. Metro PRO Archana Khushi said civil construction is underway; escalators, lifts and other station facilities will follow more quickly once it is complete.

The planned Patna Metro network spans 32.5 km between Patna City and Danapur, across two corridors: Corridor 1 is 17.93 km (7.39 km elevated, 10.54 km underground); Corridor 2 is 14.55 km (6.63 km elevated, 7.92 km underground). Services currently operate on 6.2 km, including ISBT and Zero Mile.

Land clearance has begun for a three-level underground interchange in front of Patna Junction, linking Patna Metro Corridors One and Two and providing direct access from the railway station. Madni Musafirkhana, owned by Jamiat Ulama Bihar, a milk market, an auto stand and several shops are expected to be removed. Notices went to more than a dozen people claiming rights over the land; four have filed claims, now under review. Eligible claimants will receive compensation after verification. District Land Acquisition Officer Ravi Ranjan Gupta said unclaimed land may be treated as government land after another opportunity to respond.

Corridor One runs Danapur–Khemnichak via Saguna Mor, RPS, Patliputra, Rukanpura, Rajabazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Junction, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar and Jagannpura. Corridor Two runs Patna Junction–ISBT via Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Rajendra Nagar, Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhootnath and Zero Mile. Metro access routes will lead towards Buddha Park, Chiraiyatand Bridge and the Multi-Modal Hub.

Metro currently operates on a 6.2-km elevated stretch between Patliputra Bus Terminal and Malahi Pakri. Khemnichak is expected to join the operational network next month; Khemnichak–Mithapur is targeted for June 2027, Malahi Pakri–Patna University–Patna Junction for 2028, and the remaining Corridor One section by 2030.

Construction of the 9-km, six-lane Kanhauli-Sherpur road is due to begin in October after acquisition of 177 acres. The project is estimated to cost Rs 778 crore and is targeted for completion by 2028. It will connect directly to the Bihta-Danapur elevated road, improve connectivity to western Patna and Bihta Airport, and provide an alternative route for heavy vehicles travelling between North Bihar, South Bihar and Jharkhand. Bypassing Patna is expected to ease traffic in Danapur, Khagaul, Nehru Path and Saguna Mor, and reduce travel time and fuel consumption. The Mithapur-Parsa Road Overbridge is expected to open by December, easing congestion on the Patna-Gaya corridor.

Roads dug for drainage and water pipeline projects across Patna’s 75 wards risk becoming slush-filled and causing traffic snarls and safety hazards during the monsoon. Agencies were told to stop digging from June 1 and restore roads by June 15; remaining work will resume after the monsoon.

Affected areas include PC Colony, Rajiv Nagar, Magistrate Colony, Excise Colony, the service lane near Gola Road, Saguna Mor, Boring Canal Road, Indrapuri and pockets of Kankerbagh. Residents reported open trenches, excavated earth and uneven road surfaces.
