DMRC will carry out a feasibility study for an integrated double-decker flyover-cum-metro corridor along the proposed Keshav Puram-Rohini Sector 34 corridor, part of Phase-V(B) expansion. The 16.3-km corridor is one of seven proposed expansions awaiting final approval. If feasible, it will be the city's fourth double-decker flyover, with three currently under construction. On a double-decker viaduct, vehicles run on the lower deck while metro runs on the upper deck.

A tender has been floated for a consultancy service to conduct the study. Estimated cost: Rs 2 crore, expected completion: six months.

The proposed corridor will be fully elevated with 12 stations connecting West Shalimar Bagh, East Pitampura, Rohini Sector 16, Delhi Technological University and Rohini Sector 29. Three stations will have interchange facilities: Keshavpuram (Red Line), North Pitampura (Pink Line) and Rohini Sector 34 (Red Line).

Existing double-decker viaducts under construction:

• Bhajanpura-Yamuna Vihar (Pink Line): 1.4 km, expected operational by year-end
• Azadpur-Ashok Vihar (Magenta Line extension): 2.2 km, expected ready by year-end
• Sangam Vihar-Ambedkar Nagar (Golden Line): 2.4 km, longest of the three

Other DMRC Phase-IV projects under construction: Krishna Park Extension to Deepali Chowk, Inderlok to Indraprastha (Magenta Line extensions), Delhi Aerocity to Tughlaqabad and Saket G Block to Lajpat Nagar (Golden Line), Rithala-Kundli (Red Line extension).

A four-storey building under construction collapsed at property G-4/152 and G-4/153 near an MCD school in Sector 16, Rohini, around 4:20 p.m. on July 8, 2026, during heavy rain.

Death toll: Three people died—Ram (42), a local tailor; Kafe alias Nurul (24), a labourer; and Ram Dua (62), father of the building owner. One labourer, Saddam alias Ravi (32), was pulled alive from the debris and treated. One labourer was injured overall.

The structure had received sanctioned building plans under the SARAL Scheme, which allows automatic clearance and permits by self-verified undertaking through certified architects or engineers.

MCD's preliminary assessment: Plumbing work was underway inside the building when it collapsed. Drilling or cutting of structural members including beams and columns may have contributed to the incident. Exact cause to be established after technical examination.

Rescue operations launched Wednesday evening by police, Delhi Fire Service, National Disaster Response Force, MCD, and Revenue Department using heavy machinery. Debris removal ongoing to ensure no one else is trapped. FIR registered; investigation underway.

An under-construction building collapsed in Rohini Sector 16 near an MCD school at 4:20 pm on Wednesday afternoon during incessant rainfall. One person died and at least eight people were trapped under the debris. Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services, and the National Disaster Response Force launched rescue operations. A 72-year-old eyewitness reported being 3 meters away when the building collapsed. People trapped included residents of the building, pedestrians on the street, a mother-daughter duo, a mechanic on a motorcycle, and a property dealer. The building was a four-and-a-half-storey structure undergoing final phase construction after renovation began more than a year prior. It replaced a two-storey building that previously housed Welcome Tent House. The Delhi Fire Services identified it as a DDA apartment building with two flats that collapsed during renovation work. Locals had pulled out two survivors before rescue teams arrived. The DDA stated the denotified area was handed over to the local body in 2016. Authorities did not confirm whether weather caused the collapse.
