Mohali mayor demands permissions for housing society development works

Mohali's mayor alleges the AAP government is blocking development work permissions in 35-40 housing societies while approving works for AAP-linked societies.
Key facts
City councillors led by mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu met Kulwant Singh, director of Punjab's local government department, demanding permissions for developmental works in private housing societies in Mohali.
Approximately 35-40 housing societies in Mohali lack development work permissions from the AAP-led Punjab government. Societies mentioned include Home Land Society, Pancham Society, Mohali Cooperative Society and Guru Tegh Bahadur Society, awaiting clearances for road repairs, park maintenance, drainage systems, streetlights and sewerage works for years. Works can be undertaken under Section 82/3.
Mayor alleged development works worth ₹1 crore were approved for a housing society linked to an AAP councillor, while works worth ₹20 lakh were not approved for societies in Congress-represented wards. A file for works in Sector-68 was claimed to have disappeared.
Resolutions sent to the local government department were repeatedly rejected; officials allegedly threatened charge-sheeting if resolutions were sent again.
When Rishi Apartments (society of AAP councillor Sukhdev Patwari) received approval and work order, a concurrent resolution for Pancham Society in ward of Vineet Malik remained pending.
Mayor stated all housing society residents pay property tax and deserve equal facilities. Director assured the delegation the matter would be forwarded to officials for necessary steps.
