Trains connecting Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Dindigul, Tiruchendur, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli and Palakkad currently use the Pollachi–Coimbatore route. T Krishna Balaji, secretary of the Pollachi Train Passengers Welfare Association, said the survey approval was for converting the line into a double-track corridor.
