Ranchi Plans Three Roads Around Dhurwa Dam and Nearby Routes

Jharkhand’s Road Construction Department is preparing DPRs for three roads intended to improve Dhurwa’s connectivity and manage traffic around the dam.

Key facts

Ranchi’s Road Construction Department is preparing detailed project reports for three roads: a roughly 5 km perimeter road around Dhurwa Dam; a 5.20 km link from Dr B.R. Ambedkar Chowk in Hosir to the Pithoria-Mesra Road via Ekamba, Ral and Sadkanadu; and a roughly 5 km four-lane upgrade from Dhurwa Post Office to Sithia Ring Road at Sadkanadu.
The dam road is planned with a cycle track, footpath, green verge, solar lights and a solar roof. The article describes Dhurwa Dam as a popular visitor spot and says Jharkhand’s Tourism Department lists Hatia Dam as a major tourist destination.
The DPRs will assess road design and costs, culverts, bridges, ROBs/RUBs, land acquisition and ownership, rehabilitation and resettlement, and forest-land proposals and approvals. Consultancy work for the three DPRs is targeted for completion in 45 days.
