Monsoon rain submerged roads and entered homes in Patliputra Colony, Patna, disrupting travel and confining children and older residents indoors. Hidden potholes increase accident risks, while stagnant water creates unhygienic conditions and concerns about pests and disease.

Residents cited blocked drains, waste thrown into drainage channels, houses built over old open drains and the colony’s low-lying terrain as causes. They alleged medical waste from nearby hospitals also enters the drainage system. City authorities deployed pumps, but residents said they were insufficient. One resident said he obtains bleaching powder from the ward councillor to sprinkle in his waterlogged home compound.

Patliputra University, along with other educational institutions and residential and commercial establishments in Patna, was listed as a property tax defaulter. The establishments collectively owed the Patna authorities.

The 7.39-km Danapur–Patliputra stretch was due by September 2027; its new completion deadline is September 2030, with around 70% of work completed. Elevated stations at Danapur, Saguna Mor and RPS Mor are under construction. Work between RPS Mor and Patliputra station continues, with slab installation and station construction pending. A ramp between Patliputra and Rukanpura will connect the elevated section to the underground tunnel. Metro PRO Archana Khushi said civil construction is underway; escalators, lifts and other station facilities will follow more quickly once it is complete.

The planned Patna Metro network spans 32.5 km between Patna City and Danapur, across two corridors: Corridor 1 is 17.93 km (7.39 km elevated, 10.54 km underground); Corridor 2 is 14.55 km (6.63 km elevated, 7.92 km underground). Services currently operate on 6.2 km, including ISBT and Zero Mile.

Land clearance has begun for a three-level underground interchange in front of Patna Junction, linking Patna Metro Corridors One and Two and providing direct access from the railway station. Madni Musafirkhana, owned by Jamiat Ulama Bihar, a milk market, an auto stand and several shops are expected to be removed. Notices went to more than a dozen people claiming rights over the land; four have filed claims, now under review. Eligible claimants will receive compensation after verification. District Land Acquisition Officer Ravi Ranjan Gupta said unclaimed land may be treated as government land after another opportunity to respond.

Corridor One runs Danapur–Khemnichak via Saguna Mor, RPS, Patliputra, Rukanpura, Rajabazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Junction, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar and Jagannpura. Corridor Two runs Patna Junction–ISBT via Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Rajendra Nagar, Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhootnath and Zero Mile. Metro access routes will lead towards Buddha Park, Chiraiyatand Bridge and the Multi-Modal Hub.

Metro currently operates on a 6.2-km elevated stretch between Patliputra Bus Terminal and Malahi Pakri. Khemnichak is expected to join the operational network next month; Khemnichak–Mithapur is targeted for June 2027, Malahi Pakri–Patna University–Patna Junction for 2028, and the remaining Corridor One section by 2030.

Train 26302 Danapur-Jogbani Vande Bharat Express and return service 26301 Jogbani-Danapur began scheduled halts at Patliputra Junction on Sunday. Train 26302 arrives at 5:21 pm and departs at 5:23 pm; train 26301 arrives at 11:11 am and departs at 11:13 am. The halt was inaugurated at a flag-off ceremony attended by Bihar minister Ram Kripal Yadav, MP Ravi Shankar Prasad and MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia. Local residents, railway officials, employees, public representatives and passengers were also present. The stop allows passengers from western Patna and nearby areas to use the service without travelling to other major railway stations.
