In Ghaziabad city, local dealers united for a protest march opposing the planned increase in house tax. Organized by the Mahanagar Udyog Vyapar Mandal, this demonstration saw participants gathering for a significant dharna right outside the municipal office gate.
Dr. HS Saharia, representing municipal authorities, received a formal memorandum from these business owners. The document articulated that the taxation framework should clearly distinguish between two categories: residential and commercial. Should the government decide to implement higher taxes, the traders insist that it must follow a proper procedure and remain within reasonable limits.
Gopi Chand, president of the district Vyapar Mandal, stated emphatically that the government needs to recognize the hardships traders are currently facing due to inflation. Imposing increased taxation will only exacerbate the struggles these businesses endure, making their ability to survive even more difficult.
Among the key figures leading this rally were Ram Kishor Aggarwal, Sunil Goel, Rajiv Aggarwal, Dhanesh Singhal, Shiv Shankar Rathi, Rajdev Tyagi, Shanti Swarup Sharma, Pawan Sharma, and Ashok Chawla.
