Relief in Patwari Village, Admin Begins Paying

Greater Noida: An out-of-court agreement has been cemented between a committee, consisting of 15 members, and officials, leading to expedited payments of revised land rates. On Tuesday, officials distributed cheques to 24 farmers, with another 14 farmers having already signed the draft agreement. The CEO of GNIDA, Rama Raman, confirmed the disbursement of funds.

If this pact with the farmers holds, it is set to save around 20,000 homes currently being constructed in the village. Typically, compensation payments can take months, yet this time, in a bid to address urgent needs, the authority is hastily issuing cheques. GNIDA will provide increased cash compensation exclusively to farmers who agree to the terms through affidavits, committing to withdraw their petitions and pledging never to contest the deal in court.

Three years prior, the authority acquired 589 hectares of land in Patwari at a rate of Rs 850 per sq m. However, approximately 15% of farmers have yet to accept the compensation. The compensation amount has now been raised to Rs 1400 per sq m, which includes an increase of Rs 550, of which Rs 290 will be covered by the builders.
