Centre has sanctioned Rs 658 crore to Delhi for 5 infrastructure projects

The Urban Development Ministry has sanctioned a substantial amount of Rs 658 crore for five crucial infrastructure initiatives within Delhi. Among these, four will serve as new projects while one will focus on finishing the long-pending grade separator at Rani Jhansi Road, which has been underway since 2006, allocated Rs 85 crore for its completion.

The new projects include several significant constructions: an underpass and flyover designed to connect Mahipalpur, Aerocity, IGI Airport, and NH-8; a pedestrian footbridge and skywalk near ITO; another flyover which will double as a rail overbridge situated near Narela to facilitate unimpeded access from NH-1 to the Bawana Industrial Complex; and improvements on the road close to Nigambodh Ghat and ISBT Kashmiri Gate.

Aiming to enhance direct access to the airport for passengers arriving from areas such as Gurgaon, Faridabad, and South Delhi, the government has proposed to construct an underpass and flyover that will link Aerocity, northern Mahipalpur, NH-8, and the Airport, with an estimated cost of Rs 188 crore.

An official from the Delhi Public Works Department stated, "These projects were jointly identified by various government agencies operating within Delhi and the Urban Development Ministry. The Center typically covers 80% of the funding under the Urban Development Fund (UDF). Recently, the central assistance was approved, and we have been continuously pushing to get these projects moving forward."
