BMRCL Proposes Nine-Station Yellow Line Extension to Attibele

BMRCL has proposed a 10.5-km Yellow Line extension from Bommasandra to Attibele, with nine stations, and is preparing a detailed project report.

Key facts

BMRCL has proposed a 10.5-km Yellow Line extension from Bommasandra towards Attibele along Hosur Road (NH-44), passing Chandapura, Neralur and Yadavanahalli. The first proposed station would be about 1.5 km from the existing Bommasandra terminal.

Proposed stations: Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences; Chandapura Circle; Hale (Old) Chandapura; Thirumagondanahalli; Balagaranahalli; Attibele Industrial Area; Yadavanahalli; Attibele; and Attibele Terminal, near the Tamil Nadu border.

BMRCL submitted a feasibility study to the Karnataka government, which has allowed it to proceed with a detailed project report (DPR). Tenders are expected soon; cost, land requirements and other details await the DPR, approvals and clearances. Construction has not begun.

Tamil Nadu has proposed a separate 23-km Bommasandra–Hosur metro with 12 stations: about 12 km in Karnataka and 11 km in Tamil Nadu. Differences in power systems and train sizes, land acquisition and fare sharing remain unresolved. One option is to connect the systems at the border with a 90-metre foot overbridge.
