Railway minister lays stones for two Jalandhar ovrbridges

Foundation stones laid for ₹48.95 crore and ₹63.98 crore road overbridges at Guru Nanak Pura and Garha Road in Jalandhar to improve connectivity and safety.

Key facts

Union minister of state for railways Ravneet Singh Bittu laid foundation stones for two road overbridge (ROB) projects on 24 June 2026 in Jalandhar.

Guru Nanak Pura ROB: Replaces railway crossing on Jalandhar City–Jalandhar Cantt section on busy Sahnewal–Amritsar route. Cost: ₹48.95 crore, 100% railway-funded. Will ease traffic congestion and eliminate delays from frequent railway crossing closures.

Garha Road ROB: Two-lane overbridge replaces railway crossing on Jalandhar City–Nakodar section. Cost: ₹63.98 crore, 100% railway-funded. Will provide connectivity to Jalandhar city, Jamsher Khas, Nakodar and adjoining areas while improving safety and reducing traffic congestion.

Punjab is witnessing railway infrastructure and safety investment worth ₹112.93 crore under the Central government.
