Mankoli Flyover at Mothagaon in Dombivli will close from 12 noon to midnight on August 28, August 31, September 2, and September 6 during Ganpati immersion. Closure announced by Transport Department Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Shirsat.

Dombivli devotees use Ganesh Ghat at Mothagaon Retibandar creek for immersion on regular days, five days, seven days, and Anant Chaturdashi. Many proceed via Retibandar Chowk Road, Retibandar Railway Gate towards Mankoli Flyover.

Since opening, Mankoli Flyover became preferred route for commuters from Thane, Mumbai, and Bhiwandi, adding congestion at Retibandar Railway Gate, Umeshnagar, and Pandit Deendayal Road. Anticipated traffic increase during immersion prompted closure.

Alternate routes:

• Thane/Mumbai vehicles: restricted at Anjur Divegaon, Lodha Dham, Mankoli; use Anjurphata, Bhiwandi bypass
• Kalyan, Ambernath, Badlapur, Navi Mumbai vehicles: restricted at Patri Bridge, Tata Naka, Suyog Hotel, DNS Bank Sonarpada, Manpada Chowk, Gharda Circle; use Durgadi and Gandhar Bridge
• Thakurli/Dombivli vehicles: restricted at Kopar Bridge and Thakurli Bridge; use Durgadi Bridge and Gandhar Bridge
• Dombivli via Mothagaon Retibandar Railway Gate: stopped at Mothagaon Mankoli; use Patripool and Durgadi Chowk

• The Rs 1,182-crore Thane-Vadape road widening project is 95% complete.
• MSRDC has set September-end 2026 as the fresh target for finishing the remaining widening work.
• The upgraded corridor is expected to reduce peak travel time between Thane and Vadape from nearly two hours to around 30 minutes.
• The existing four-lane Mumbai-Nashik Highway stretch is being widened to an eight-lane main carriageway.
• The project also includes 18.35 km of two-lane service roads.
• Potholes and congestion continue, especially around Mankoli and Pimplas; heavy vehicles using service roads have added to road damage.
• Of about 80,000 concrete panels, nearly 550 need dismantling and reconstruction.
• About 1,800 cracks need repairs.
• The 84-metre Pimplas railway overbridge is 72% complete and is targeted for completion in September 2026.
• The Mankoli underpass and some VUPs remain under construction.
• Work began in 2021 with an original February 2025 deadline, but nearly three deadlines were missed before the latest target was fixed.

• Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation has completed 92% of the 23.8-km Vadape-Thane Road expansion along the Old Mumbai-Nashik National Highway.
• The project aims to decongest a busy freight and commuter route linking Thane, Bhiwandi and Nashik, and to improve movement for heavy vehicles heading to Bhiwandi’s warehouse cluster.
• The road will become an eight-lane corridor with two-lane service roads on both sides.

• Three bridges are complete: Kalwa Creek Bridge, Kasheli Creek Bridge and Vadape Flyover.
• The railway overbridge is the only pending major structure; girder launching began after Railway Department clearance on 25 May, and completion is expected by September 2026.
• Seven underpasses are complete at Yewai, Walshind, Sonale, Saravali, Dive LVUP, Dive VUP and Kharegaon.
• Pimplas VUP, Ovali VUP and Mankoli-Motagaon VUP are targeted for August.
• The Rs 1,182 crore project is part of the traffic dispersal plan linked to the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg and is being executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model, with NHAI funding upfront and repaying MSRDC over 15 years.

• Thane Zilla Parishad CEO Ranjit Yadav inspected Gram Panchayat Anjur on 1 February 2026 under the Chief Minister Samriddhi Panchayat Raj Abhiyan.
• He praised the panchayat’s work on governance, cleanliness, water security and social justice, and said Anjur could be a model for other panchayats in the district.
• Gram Panchayat Officer Anil Ganesh Kangane presented the campaign report covering digitisation and transparency, solid waste management and sanitation, sustainable water supply systems, and welfare delivery.
• The inspection was attended by Group Development Officer (Bhiwandi) Govind Khamkar, Sarpanch Chhaya Sham Janathe, Deputy Sarpanch Haresh Murli Dhar Naik, and members Sukesh Daki and Avinash Daki.
• The committee raised several civic issues:
• Water scarcity at S.S. Apartment, a 127-unit complex on Mankoli–Anjur Road; residents do not have access to the village water tank and want direct tapping from the Stem Authority’s main pipeline.
• Proposal for 30 guntha of land in Survey No. 223 for a solid waste management plant; the village asked for the land transfer to be expedited.
• Loss of the village’s only cricket ground due to the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Railway project; the committee demanded a new playground, also in Survey No. 223.
• Request for permission to acquire adjacent land and a house to expand the Gram Panchayat office.
• Yadav said the Zilla Parishad would coordinate with the relevant departments to seek quick solutions.

Repair work at Gaimukh Ghat caused major congestion on the Mumbra-Kharegaon and Thane-Ghodbunder roads on Friday, August 8, 2025. Commuters reported delays exceeding an hour for journeys usually taking 10–20 minutes. Road patching from Kajupada to Nira Kendra covered stretches of 300–400 metres; queues extended from Kharegaon toll plaza to Kausa. Heavy vehicles from Navi Mumbai, Mahape and Dombivli, including thousands travelling daily from JNPT Port through Gaimukh Ghat towards Gujarat, were affected. Road widening on the Kharegaon toll naka alternative worsened congestion.

The Highway Authority announced three days of urgent Ghodbunder Road repairs. Heavy-vehicle restrictions on Gaimukh Ghat ran from midnight August 8 until 5 a.m. August 11. Diversions included Kapurbawdi → Kasheli → Majiwada → Kharegaon → Mankoli → Anjur Phata. Vehicles from Mumbai/Thane were stopped at V Junction and Kapurbawdi Junction and redirected via Nashik Road, Kharegaon Toll, Mankoli and Anjur Phata; those from Mumbra/Kalwa were stopped at Kharegaon Toll Naka and diverted via Mankoli and Anjur Phata.
