Manapparai’s District Government Headquarters Hospital lacks functional facilities in its newly built maternity and child welfare block and other departments. The 50-bed maternity facility, built for an estimated ₹10 crore, was inaugurated in October 2025, months after construction ended.

The Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care department receives 100–150 cases daily from Manapparai and surrounding areas. Pregnancy tests, biopsies and MRI scans are unavailable; patients are referred to K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi, with results taking five to seven days.

Hospital sources said equipment for pregnancy blood tests is being installed and staff trained; urine culture tests are available. The hospital has no cardiologist. Advanced oncology patients are referred to government hospitals in Tiruchi, Madurai or Thanjavur.

SIPCOT has reserved 100 acres at its industrial park near Manapparai on the Tiruchi–Dindigul Highway for U.S.-based Jabil Inc., which supplies electronic components to Apple, Cisco, HP and Dell. The proposed electronics manufacturing unit involves an investment of ₹2,000 crore and could employ about 5,000 people.

The park spans 1,0976.96 acres at Kannudaiyanpatti, K. Periyapatti and Chatrapatti, with roads, electricity lines and drinking-water pipelines. Applications for sites began in 2019. The State earmarked 131.92 acres for SIDCO and a small portion for the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation; SIPCOT allots sites on long-term leases. Thirty companies have received sites, with other firms also interested.

A government–Jabil MoU was signed during then Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s U.S. visit in September 2024. Jabil’s team assessed the site’s road, air and rail links, access to Thoothukudi, Kochi and Karaikal ports, and facilities in Tiruchi. SIPCOT said discussions were continuing and a land-allotment agreement was expected soon.

On October 16, 2024, Trichy district collector M Pradeep Kumar inspected government projects in Vaiyampatti block near Manapparai under Tamil Nadu’s ‘Ungalai Thedi Ungal Ooril’ scheme. He visited houses being built under the ‘Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam’ scheme and spoke with beneficiaries. He also inspected a fair-price outlet, Vaiyampatti police station, government veterinary hospital, the ayacut area of Ponnaniyar dam, a government library and a bio-fertilizer production unit. He reviewed police registers, advised officials to respond promptly to public grievances and asked about medicine availability. Manapparai MLA P Abdul Samad attended. The state scheme aims to improve public services and accelerate government schemes; district administrations visit one taluk each month to assess offices and implementation.

Hundreds of residents from villages near Manapparai in Trichy district held a road blockade on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, demanding immediate repairs and upgrades to a road they said had been neglected for several years. The protest took place near Podanguppatti along the Manapparai–Thuvarankurichi highway. Residents of Adaikkampatti, Avikkarapatti, Saambatti, Valayampatti and neighbouring settlements sought repairs to the seven-kilometre stretch linking Poyyappatti and Podanguppatti.

Kirby Building System and Structures India, a subsidiary of Kuwait-based Alghanim Industries, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its pre-engineered steel buildings manufacturing facility at Manapparai SIPCOT Industrial Park in Trichy. The ₹239.5 crore factory will cover 33 acres and have annual capacity of 1 lakh tonnes. Commercial operations are expected to start by mid-2027, with around 1,000 jobs expected over the next few years.
