Residents of Krishna Nagar Colony put “On Sale” notices outside homes and shops on Lane 20 on Thursday, protesting years of waterlogging along a half-kilometre stretch without proper drainage. The approximately 60-foot-wide road connects around a dozen villages, including Salempur, Sohalpur, Sunehri and Khata Khedi, and is lined with about 400 shops, dozens of houses and a school.

Residents said they would boycott the upcoming urban local body elections, accusing politicians of making promises and not returning. A shopkeeper said waterlogging had driven away customers and visitors, prompting residents to consider selling their properties. The administration said a comprehensive drainage system and master plan were needed and that it would propose a solution soon.
