Kithaganur and Halehalli Residents Demand Basic Civic Amenities

More than 50,000 families in Kithaganur and Halehalli have urged officials to address long-standing infrastructure, water, civic-service and public-facility gaps.

Key facts

More than 50,000 families in Kithaganur and Halehalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura Zone, are seeking urgent civic intervention. The KR Puram Constituency Association Welfare Federation sent an open letter to the Panchayat Development Officer, copying local MLAs, MPs, ministers, BBMP, BWSSB and BESCOM. It lists 16 issues residents say have been neglected for years.

Residents want immediate repairs to pothole-ridden roads, daily garbage collection, better street lighting, stormwater drainage and Cauvery water supply. They say online e-Khata service has been suspended for over a decade, leaving properties in limbo.

Other demands include a police station, post office, public health centre and BMTC bus services connecting the area to metro stations and elsewhere in Bengaluru. Residents also seek more classrooms in local government schools, approval for classes up to the 10th standard, a sports arena and a public park.
