MahaMetro commenced 25 kV overhead electrification (OHE) works for Phase-II of Nagpur Metro. Work on Reach-1A covers the Khapri to MIDC Butibori stretch.

Maharashtra revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule distributed land allotment documents (pattas) to project-affected families from Khapri (Railway) under the Mihan rehabilitation scheme on 15 June 2025. Out of 765 eligible beneficiaries in Khapri, 500 received pattas; remaining 265 expected to receive theirs soon. Distribution held at a school premises in the rehabilitated layout at Mihan. Bawankule stated displaced residents of Khapri, Kalkuhi, Dahegaon and Telhara waited 15 years for resolution. Six beneficiaries—Ashok Sontakke, Vinayak Barai, Vijay Barai, Bhushan Junghare, Pramod Lakshane, Ramdas Sonule—symbolically received documents. Distribution conducted under joint initiative of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Revenue Campaign and 100-day action programme, in collaboration with district collector's office and Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). Attended by collector Dr Vipin Itankar, ZP CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, and SDM Vandana Savrangpate.

Nagpur Metro’s Phase 2 extensions will add nearly 20 km, with new stations planned on both stretches. The Orange Line will extend toward Kamptee-Kanhan and the Aqua Line toward Hingna.

The current Orange Line runs between Automotive Square and Khapri, passing Sitabuldi, Ajni, the airport area and New Airport. The Aqua Line runs between Prajapati Nagar and Lokmanya Nagar, serving Nagpur Railway Station, Sitabuldi, Jhansi Rani Square and Dharampeth.

Nagpur Metro Phase 2 will add 43.8 km of track and 32 stations, taking the network to about 82 km. A ₹154 crore tender has been issued for an open-loop Automatic Fare Collection system accepting bank cards and universal mobility cards; stations are planned to be green.

The four extensions are Automotive Square–Kanhan River (13 km), Khapri–Butibori (18.7 km), Lokmanya Nagar–Hingna (6.7 km) and Prajapati Nagar–Transport Nagar (5.5 km). Soil testing and geotechnical surveys are complete on most reaches; piers are standing on the North-South corridor toward Kanhan, depot land is being cleared in the east, and land in MIHAN has been handed over.

Construction accelerated in 2023. Viaduct work was scheduled for 2024–25; track laying, station construction and AFC installation are planned for 2026. Full operations are targeted for December 2027, with some sections potentially opening earlier for trial runs.

The article says property prices in Hingna and areas near the MIHAN flyover have risen nearly 25%; Wardha Road and Jamtha are also identified as benefiting, and commercial spaces near stations are attracting brands.

Nagpur Metro Phase 3 is planned to span a tentative 54.5 km, making it the city’s largest planned expansion. MahaMetro confirmed the 25 km Inner Ring Road corridor from Mankapur Chowk to Rachana junction (Hingna T-point) will be included in the Detailed Project Report (DPR), after floating a tender to prepare it. Union minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the inclusion at a press conference on Monday.

The other proposed corridors are:

• Sitabuldi–Koradi: 11.5 km, to strengthen north–south connectivity.
• MIDC ESR–CEAT Ltd: 3 km, for last-mile connectivity to the Butibori–MIDC industrial belt.
• Khapri–New Nagpur: 15 km, linking the planned greenfield New Nagpur development with the existing metro network.

The four corridors together add about 55 km. Phase I and Phase II total nearly 84 km; with Phase 3, the network would reach approximately 129 km. The blueprint is part of the Comprehensive Mobility Plan approved in July 2025.
