Kalmeshwar MIDC Urged to Curb Industry Relocation and Attract Investment

Key facts
Representatives urged MLA Rajiv Potdar to raise Kalmeshwar MIDC’s problems with the state government and relevant departments, seeking better facilities, tax and fee relief, lower electricity costs and incentives to retain existing industries and attract investment. Dhananjay Joshi, Amar Mohite, Dilip Gajbhiye and Mohan Saudagar attended.
Government district export-plan data lists 170 industrial plots allotted and 110 operating units; the figures are from older documents, and current numbers would need to be obtained from MIDC. The representatives sought details on operating, closed and relocated industries and action on the reasons for departures. They also called for roads, water, electricity, drainage, streetlights and transport.
They proposed developing the area as a pharmaceutical hub and attracting agriculture-based, food-processing, orange-processing and medical-equipment industries. They said investment and industry retention could support local employment and trade.
