Congress Seeks Probe Into Raipur Land-for-Plot Allotment

Congress alleges Raipur Development Authority gave a valuable commercial plot to a company linked to Minister Kedar Kashyap’s wife in exchange for lower-value land.

Congress accused the Vishnu Deo Sai government of favouring Radhika Palace Private Limited, whose director Shanti Kashyap is the wife of State Minister Kedar Kashyap, in an allotment under the MR-43 Urban Development Scheme in Raipur. It demanded a probe and the Minister’s resignation. The company’s original land measured about 1.33 acres in Nalapara Basti, Kachna; Congress leaders Rakesh Gupta and Shreekumar Shankar Menon said it was worth only a few lakh rupees. The RDA website listed an approximately 23,327-square-foot commercial plot in exchange, near Saddu Chowk on Baloda Bazar Road, beside a proposed 45-metre (150-foot) road. Gupta claimed its value would exceed ₹20 crore after road construction and alleged the plot was not contiguous with the original land, contrary to the Chhattisgarh Town and Country Planning Act, 1973. The scheme returns 40% of developed land to original landowners. RDA vice chairman J.P. Sharma said relocation complied with NGT guidelines protecting water sources. BJP spokesperson Shivnarayan Pandey called the allegations baseless and disputed Congress’s valuation. Kashyap had not responded by 9 p.m.
