The service lets passengers enter using facial recognition, reducing manual checks and time spent on check-in, boarding passes and other procedures. The facility had previously been available only at major airports.
Digi Yatra uses face biometrics for contactless, paperless passenger processing at airport checkpoints, validating identity and travel details. It is based on Self-Sovereign Identity technology. Personally identifiable information is not centrally stored: passenger ID and travel credentials remain in a secure wallet on their smartphone. Uploaded data uses blockchain technology and is purged from servers within 24 hours of use.
