Since Yogi Adityanath became Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in 2017, Hardoi district has seen investment in infrastructure, rural empowerment, healthcare, education and industry. Road networks and expressway connectivity have expanded, with Public Works Department projects and state schemes upgrading rural and urban roads. In early 2026, approvals covered 77 contact roads costing approximately ₹38 crore, expected to benefit more than two lakh residents. Sections linking Hardoi and Unnao are part of the 594-km, six-lane Ganga Expressway, expandable to eight lanes, inaugurated in 2026.

PM MITRA Park spans 1,000 acres: 730 acres in Lucknow district and 270 acres in Hardoi district. It has received investment proposals exceeding ₹5,000 crore. Once completed, it is projected to attract over ₹10,000 crore in investments and generate more than 100,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The site is 45 km from Lucknow Airport, 15 km from Malihabad Railway Station and 40 km from Lucknow Junction. The Lucknow–Hardoi–Delhi National Highway is 15 km away and the Outer Ring Road is 20 km away.

Proposed units include Aditya Birla Group spinning and weaving facilities on 30 acres; GESL Spinners technical textile yarn on 20 acres; Ajul Denimkart denim fabric on 15 acres; SAVM Inc D garments on 25 acres; Geosys India geogrid textiles on 25 acres; TTL Limited garments on 5 acres; RGI Meditech sanitary napkins and diapers on 2.5 acres; VD Group polypropylene fabric on 10 acres; and Maral Overseas garments on 5 acres. Okhla Garment and Textile Cluster plans a 125-acre garment hub.

PM MITRA Park Uttar Pradesh Limited, the operating SPV, is owned 51% by the state government and 49% by the central government.

Lucknow divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob directed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and other agencies to complete construction of the Lucknow-Hardoi Road by the end of December. At a review meeting on Tuesday, officials reviewed progress and were asked to provide a detailed report on the reasons for delays. Jacob raised concerns about work quality, ordered strict adherence to construction standards and regular inspections of materials, and directed agencies to work with relevant departments to remove obstacles and expedite pending issues. The meeting was attended by senior NHAI officials, department representatives and contractors. The project is expected to improve connectivity and support regional economic and social development.

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is considering cancelling the allotment of 272 plots in Sector-A of Basant Kunj Yojana on Hardoi Road due to ongoing farmer disputes preventing property registrations and possession handovers.

LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar said a committee is evaluating the situation and plots have not been cancelled yet. If Sector-A allotments are withdrawn, allottees will receive refunds with interest.

Plots were allotted through lottery in 2022 with sizes ranging from 70 to 200 square metres. Allottees have repeatedly demanded registration and possession, but LDA officials acknowledged in an April 2 letter that land-related disputes with farmers have made progress impossible despite repeated efforts.

Additional complexity: metro authorities are examining portions of land for future expansion.

LDA officials fear delays could result in adverse rulings from consumer courts and RERA, damaging the authority's image and causing financial losses. Senior officials have recommended cancelling allotments and returning deposits with interest in a time-bound manner per rules.

Allottees are demanding a clear timeline for either dispute resolution or refund initiation.
