Vishvas Sarang stopped Hamidia Road construction between Alpana Tiraha and Bhopal Talkies pending designs, citing drainage problems and flood risks affecting over 10 lakh people.

Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Vishvas Sarang ordered the contractor to stop work on the under-construction Hamidia Road between Alpana Tiraha and Bhopal Talkies until it prepares designs and drawings following a survey. He directed the collector to coordinate a plan with the Public Works Department (PWD), Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), Metro and Traffic departments.

An inspection found BMC’s drain was lower than PWD’s, preventing water flow, and that the drains were improperly constructed. PWD had not obtained BMC’s no-objection certificate for channelisation in Patara drain. Sarang warned that discharging water into the drain without planned channelisation could cause city flooding affecting more than 10 lakh people.
