Gannavaram Airport expansion land pooling at preliminary stage

Land pooling for 59 acres in Azzampudi village for Gannavaram Airport expansion in Krishna district remains preliminary, with ownership verification ongoing.

Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) Commissioner Kanna Babu informed the High Court that land pooling for acquiring 59 acres in Azzampudi village for Gannavaram Airport expansion in Krishna district is at preliminary stage. APCRDA does not currently have possession of the 59 acres and final approval from Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department Principal Secretary or CRDA Commissioner has not been granted. Process is at stage of verification of land ownership rights.

A 2015 notification proposed pooling 837 acres across Azzampudi, Chinna Avutapalli, Allapuram, Buddavaram and Kesarapalli villages for airport expansion. Initially 432 plot owners from Allapuram and Buddavaram refused, demanding alternative plots. Government adopted land pooling scheme, and these owners later agreed to offer lands. CRDA meeting is yet to decide whether additional 59 acres need to be pooled.

Petition filed by Mannam Krishnamurthy and three others alleged APCRDA and State government failed to pay annual lease amounts for lands in Azzampudi village given for airport expansion. CRDA Commissioner requested court extension to file detailed counter.
