A power outage followed, and the lift’s Automatic Rescue Device (ARD) was non-operational for the first 10 minutes. The girls recited the Hanuman Chalisa to stay calm. Society maintenance staff and other officials arrived after being informed, opened the lift door after 30 minutes and safely rescued them. The incident raised concerns over maintenance standards and safety protocols in high-rise residential societies.
