Overnight heavy rainfall severely waterlogged Samta Colony, Choubey Colony and Devendra Nagar as illegal encroachments choked Raipur’s natural drainage networks. The city historically drained toward the Kharun River through interconnected nullahs, many of which are now covered by concrete slabs or commercial structures. After severe inundation in Rajiv Nagar, Mahoba Bazar, during the 19 June deluge, the Raipur Municipal Corporation said it had no official records of the drainage network.
