Six accused in custody: property owner Urmila (75), her husband Hariram (81), their son Mahesh Gupta (52), PG operators Sudhanshu and Shubham Tyagi, and labour contractor Sanoj.
Mahesh Gupta was responsible for overseeing property maintenance. The building was leased to Sudhanshu and Shubham in August 2025 and converted into a paying guest facility. Sanoj was arrested from Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, and was allegedly supervising basement repair work where waste had accumulated during monsoon.
Investigators are examining construction and repair work on the ground floor where a commercial extension was reportedly being undertaken. Several Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials were suspended. The Delhi High Court is hearing petitions concerning safety and regulation of paying guest accommodations following the tragedy.
