The Delhi-Meerut Expressway is implementing time-based speed limits, a first-of-its-kind initiative in India. The system adjusts speed limits according to traffic conditions to regulate traffic movement, reduce congestion, and improve road safety. Implementation begins August 15.

Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage runs July 30 to August 11, 2026. Devotees carry sacred Ganga water in pots to religious sites including Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri.

Delhi traffic impacts: Vehicular movement affected on Najafgarh Firni Road, Rohtak Road, Pankha Road, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road and Outer Ring Road.

Eastern Delhi: Heavy Transport Vehicles (except city buses) restricted July 30 to August 12 on GT Road (Apsara Border to Yamuna Bridge), Wazirabad Road (Bhopura Border to Signature Bridge), Vikas Marg, Asha Ram Tyagi Marg, Pusta Road and Loni Road. GT Road closure from 7 am August 9 to 8 pm August 12. Diversion via NH-9 and NH-44.

Pedestrian Kanwariyas designated routes: Rohtak Road (Zakhira to Tikri Border), Najafgarh Road (Zakhira to Jharoda Border), Outer Ring Road (Madhuban Chowk to District Centre Janakpuri).

Muzaffarnagar district: Heavy vehicles prohibited from July 30. From August 4, all vehicular movement barred on Delhi-Haridwar National Highway and Ganga Canal Road. Vehicles diverted via Deoband, Pachenda, Mirapur and Mawana in Meerut.

Delhi-Meerut Expressway: Closed August 7-12. Emergency vehicles permitted under police escort.

NCRTC handed over a 9.3-km stretch of Delhi-Meerut Road from Meerut Tiraha to Duhai's Eastern Peripheral Expressway to the Public Works Department.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation completed restoration and widening of the Delhi-Meerut Road stretch between Meerut Tiraha and Eastern Peripheral Expressway at Duhai. The approximately 9.3-km stretch was widened from 7 metres to 10.5 metres on both carriageways. Approximately 6 km of drains were constructed to address waterlogging and provide permanent sewerage solution. The road passes through densely-populated areas with heavy traffic, particularly heavy vehicles. NCRTC was entrusted with the road's upkeep by PWD in 2018 during construction of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. The road had suffered damage during monsoons due to heavy traffic load and inadequate drainage. Green belts replaced conventional dividers beneath the Namo Bharat viaduct for beautification and safety. Service lanes were constructed near Namo Bharat station entry and exit points. Namo Bharat train services began in October 2023 and were extended to Meerut South in August 2024. Road stretches have been handed back to concerned departments in phases.

Three additional Namo Bharat stations in Meerut set to become operational by end of July. This marks a significant milestone in the phased commissioning of the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.
