WCL Chairman and Managing Director Jai Prakash Dwivedi said the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to expand coal production and meet growing national energy demand. WCL also plans to conserve and optimally extract coal from the adjoining Makardhokra I and III blocks.

Maharashtra revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule distributed land allotment documents (pattas) to project-affected families from Khapri (Railway) under the Mihan rehabilitation scheme on 15 June 2025. Out of 765 eligible beneficiaries in Khapri, 500 received pattas; remaining 265 expected to receive theirs soon. Distribution held at a school premises in the rehabilitated layout at Mihan. Bawankule stated displaced residents of Khapri, Kalkuhi, Dahegaon and Telhara waited 15 years for resolution. Six beneficiaries—Ashok Sontakke, Vinayak Barai, Vijay Barai, Bhushan Junghare, Pramod Lakshane, Ramdas Sonule—symbolically received documents. Distribution conducted under joint initiative of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Revenue Campaign and 100-day action programme, in collaboration with district collector's office and Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). Attended by collector Dr Vipin Itankar, ZP CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, and SDM Vandana Savrangpate.
