Pune Residents Seek Action Over Liquor Shop Nuisance on NIBM–Undri Road

Residents of societies along Pune’s NIBM–Undri Road reported public drinking, harassment and violence, prompting State Excise officials to promise notices and enforcement coordination.
Key facts
On September 15, 2025, residents of Gagan Ela, Bramha Majestic, Natraj CHS, Runwal Daffodils and other societies along NIBM–Undri Road raised concerns about nuisance linked to wine and beer shops. The NIBM–Undri Road Residents Forum submitted a memorandum through social activist Parveen Tambe to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at a Maha Janata Darbar in Hadapsar.
State Excise officials visited Gagan Ela, Bramha Majestic and Natraj CHS. Residents cited public drinking, urination, lewd remarks, people consuming alcohol in parked cars, and violence involving knives, sickles and firearms. They said repeated police complaints had not resolved the problem and also alleged drug peddling affecting young people.
Officials said shop license holders would receive notices for violations and promised coordination with police and Pune Municipal Corporation. Residents sought regular patrolling, stricter monitoring of liquor outlets and action against illegal activity.
