Bengaluru South City Corporation announced auction of 50 properties that defaulted on property tax at Bommanahalli Zonal office on Friday. Previously on February 21, 30 properties were put for auction; 13 property owners paid arrears on spot avoiding auction. Remaining 17 properties and 33 new properties totalling 50 have defaulted despite repeated notices and opportunities, will be auctioned as distress sale.

The Raitha Sipayi Mandira community hall in Bommanahalli, located near Devarachikkanahalli, has hosted cultural programmes and spiritual discourses over eight years. BBMP proposes converting it to a zone-specific veterinary hospital due to lack of suitable sites in Bommanahalli zone.

The hall was constructed on a designated Civic Amenities (CA) site using BBMP funds estimated at ₹25 lakh in 2016 to replace a vacant, alcoholic-frequented plot. Local residents have maintained it since construction, covering electricity and water costs.

Bommanahalli Zonal Commissioner Ramya S cited the hall's entry and exit points and BBMP land records indicating BBMP ownership as reasons for the proposal. BBMP officials took possession and keys from residents after verifying records.

Over 200 residents submitted a letter to the Commissioner requesting the plan be dropped and an alternative location identified. The Commissioner stated she will review the request and decide soon.

Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chairperson Dr N Manjula directed officials to accelerate construction of nine World Bank-funded sewage treatment plants (STPs) across Bengaluru, with combined treatment capacity of 148 MLD. At a progress-review meeting at Cauvery Bhavan, she assessed projects supported by the World Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), including STPs, sewerage networks, wastewater treatment and water-supply works. She sought updates on STP and sewerage works in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Dasarahalli, Byatarayanapura, Bommanahalli and Mahadevapura zones, and directed officials to set timelines for every project, respond promptly to local concerns and prioritize worker safety. The proposed JICA-supported Cauvery Water Supply Scheme Stage VI has been finalized, with final-stage discussions held on loan approval. Manjula directed officials to design it to meet future drinking-water needs in Bengaluru and surrounding areas.
