Farmer cheated of Rs 2.38 crore in Surat land deal

A 59-year-old farmer in Surat alleges two men defrauded him of Rs 2.38 crore in a land transaction and refused to transfer the property.

59-year-old farmer Yogendra Singh Bakarola filed FIR at Amroli police station on Wednesday alleging Rs 2.38 crore fraud by Jayanti Jerambhai Ahir and Dharmesh Jitendrabhai Ahir. The dispute involves land with survey numbers 544/1, 544/2 and 557 in Kosad. The accused inherited the land after death of Jerambhai Ahir, who had previously sold land to Bakarola family. Accused promised to complete formalities and transfer land but repeatedly delayed on various pretexts. Sale agreement signed in 2013 in presence of common friends and relatives. During transaction process, government premium of Rs 2.38 crore was found due on land document. Jayanti also borrowed Rs 5 lakh from Bakarola for Dharmesh's wedding ceremony.
