The collector property guideline meeting will be held March 27 to finalize new property rates for Bhopal. Officials are considering reducing the previously proposed 18% average increase due to mounting public objections from MLAs and MPs. Instead of uniform 18% hike, some areas might see minimum 5% increase. Several localities were initially set for 20% to 60% surge in property rates, including Ayodhya Bypass, Bairagadh Cheechli, Hoshangabad Road, Airport Road, Damkheda and Raisen Road. New guidelines set to take effect April 1. There has been surge in property registrations as buyers rush to complete transactions before potential price hike. District registration office advised citizens to take advantage of extended registration hours. Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh noted deadline for submitting objections was March 23, with offline submissions accepted until March 24. Total of 60 objections and suggestions received. Final draft of property rates to be ready before April 1.
