Nellore clears encroachments to widen Podalakur Road

Nellore begins clearing three decades of encroachments on Podalakur Road with Rs 12.20 crore sanctioned for widening, dividers and central lighting.

Encroachments are being cleared on Podalakur Road between Batvadipalem and Dycus Road in Nellore for the first time in 30 years. Road widening project estimated at Rs 5.50 crore. Additionally, Rs 4 crore allocated for dividers and central lighting along entire corridor. Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sreedhar Reddy stated road widening necessary due to frequent road mishaps and traffic congestion. Part of stretch will be cement-paved, balance BT road. Separate project on Gandhi Nagar Main Road from Nallapareddy Sreenivasulu Reddy statue to Dycus Road: Rs 2.70 crore sanctioned for road improvement and central lighting. BT road works and single-divider central lighting system will be developed from statue to Dycus Road. Tender process to commence shortly.
