Water Supply Upgrades and Ranipet Traders’ Complex Inaugurated

Tamil Nadu inaugurated a ₹12.92-crore water scheme for Gudiyatham and Madhanur and an ₹11.52-crore commercial complex in Ranipet.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually inaugurated a combined water-supply project for Gudiyatham municipality in Vellore district and five villages and 17 habitations in Madhanur panchayat union, Tirupattur district. The ₹12.92-crore project was implemented by the Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board under AMRUT 2.0, with the Palar river as its key source.

Gudiyatham built two overhead tanks of 10 lakh litres each and a 23-lakh-litre sump, with pipelines laid from the Palar river bed. The municipality currently generates 8.85 MLD under the Palar and Cauvery Water Supply Scheme. Supply reaches 24 of its 36 wards, once every two days, at 92 litres per capita per day; tankers and street tanks serve the remaining public.

Water supply has started in Chinnapallikuppam, Papanapalli, Vadakarai, Melsanakuppam and Vadacheri. The ₹4.95-crore scheme covers at least 17 tribal habitations and about 8,000 families.

Stalin also inaugurated Ranipet town’s ₹11.52-crore permanent commercial complex, maintained by the municipality. It has 300 retail shops, 60 wholesale shops, air-conditioned rest rooms for traders and lorry drivers, water, washrooms, CCTV and parking, on around 56.23 sq. m.
