The 7.39-km Danapur–Patliputra stretch was due by September 2027; its new completion deadline is September 2030, with around 70% of work completed. Elevated stations at Danapur, Saguna Mor and RPS Mor are under construction. Work between RPS Mor and Patliputra station continues, with slab installation and station construction pending. A ramp between Patliputra and Rukanpura will connect the elevated section to the underground tunnel. Metro PRO Archana Khushi said civil construction is underway; escalators, lifts and other station facilities will follow more quickly once it is complete.

The planned Patna Metro network spans 32.5 km between Patna City and Danapur, across two corridors: Corridor 1 is 17.93 km (7.39 km elevated, 10.54 km underground); Corridor 2 is 14.55 km (6.63 km elevated, 7.92 km underground). Services currently operate on 6.2 km, including ISBT and Zero Mile.

Patna Metro Rail’s Corridor-I underground section is progressing along the 10.5-km Mithapur-Rukanpura stretch beside Nehru Path (Bailey Road). At Rukanpura, steel reinforcement cages are being lowered to build diaphragm walls for the underground station. The Red Line underground section will have six stations: Patna Junction, Vidyut Bhawan, Vikas Bhawan, Patna Zoo, Raja Bazaar and Rukanpura. Patna Junction will be an interchange with the other metro line.

Land clearance has begun for a three-level underground interchange in front of Patna Junction, linking Patna Metro Corridors One and Two and providing direct access from the railway station. Madni Musafirkhana, owned by Jamiat Ulama Bihar, a milk market, an auto stand and several shops are expected to be removed. Notices went to more than a dozen people claiming rights over the land; four have filed claims, now under review. Eligible claimants will receive compensation after verification. District Land Acquisition Officer Ravi Ranjan Gupta said unclaimed land may be treated as government land after another opportunity to respond.

Corridor One runs Danapur–Khemnichak via Saguna Mor, RPS, Patliputra, Rukanpura, Rajabazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Junction, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar and Jagannpura. Corridor Two runs Patna Junction–ISBT via Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Rajendra Nagar, Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhootnath and Zero Mile. Metro access routes will lead towards Buddha Park, Chiraiyatand Bridge and the Multi-Modal Hub.

Metro currently operates on a 6.2-km elevated stretch between Patliputra Bus Terminal and Malahi Pakri. Khemnichak is expected to join the operational network next month; Khemnichak–Mithapur is targeted for June 2027, Malahi Pakri–Patna University–Patna Junction for 2028, and the remaining Corridor One section by 2030.

Patna Metro construction has accelerated after services were extended to Malahi Pakri. Work is progressing at multiple underground stations:

• At Rukanpura station, engineers are strengthening guide walls between Grids 15 and 16 ahead of deep excavation.
• At Vikas Bhawan station, guide-wall concreting is underway to ensure structural stability and alignment.
• On the elevated section, workers are installing purlins for the Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) roof.

Tunnel excavation beneath Bailey Road is expected to begin in November. A launching shaft near Patna Zoo is under construction and is expected to be completed within the next three months. Tunnel Boring Machines will then be lowered underground to start excavation, bringing significant traffic restrictions to the busy corridor.
