South Coast Railway’s Vijayawada Division launched its ‘SelfieWithStation’ social media contest to mark the inauguration of renovated Rayanapadu Amrit station, developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Passengers and visitors can post selfies with the station as a backdrop on Facebook, Instagram or X, tagging the division’s official social media accounts. Entries close July 16, 2026. Winners will receive prizes on July 17 during the inauguration programme. Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infrastructure) P.E. Edwin said the campaign aims to raise public awareness of the station’s transformation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Rayanapadu railway station in Vijayawada on July 17. The satellite station was redeveloped for around ₹35 crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). In phase one, ₹20 crore was spent on the station facade, platforms, foot overbridges, circulation area and designated parking facilities. Rayanapadu currently serves as a halt station for trains operating between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam in both directions, helping decongest Vijayawada main railway station.

Rayanapadu Railway Station in Vijayawada Division is being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for ₹12.13 crore. The three-platform, National Security Guard-5 category station is one of 53 South Central Railway stations in Andhra Pradesh being modernised. It is 9 km from Vijayawada Junction, serves as a bypass station and has 20 train stoppages, connecting routes from Nagpur and Secunderabad via Warangal to Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.

About 58% of work is complete, including platform surfacing, shelters, a waiting hall, modular toilets, façade improvements, circulating-area upgrades and lifts. Completion is expected by the end of 2025. The 53 Andhra Pradesh station projects have a combined cost of ₹2,611 crore; foundation stones were laid in August 2023 and February 2024.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath said multiple railway infrastructure projects are advancing after meeting divisional railway manager Mohit Sonakiya.

Rayanapadu railway station, modernised under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, was recently inaugurated by the prime minister and is ready for its formal launch. Nearly ₹10 crore has been sanctioned to expand and modernise Kondapalli railway station, which will also be covered by Amrit Bharat 2.0.

Vijayawada railway station will be redeveloped under the PPP model, described as a first for India, with ₹34 crore allocated and NITI Aayog approval secured. Pre-bid meetings are complete; the tender closes by March 31.

Tenders have been finalised for road overbridges at level crossings 147, 150 and 316; level crossing 148 is in tendering. The Gunadala ROB at level crossing 8 is expected to go to tender within four days. Designs are ready for road underbridges connecting Old and New Rajarajeshwari Peta, and a planned RUB will benefit Vambe Colony residents.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath announced foundation stones for two Road Over Bridges (ROBs) in Gunadala would be laid within 15 days. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was scheduled to attend but could not due to his busy schedule. The announcement was made at the inauguration of the 11th Credai Property Expo. The MP highlighted that real estate sector has gained momentum after Naidu became Chief Minister again following 2019-2023 period. Tenders for LC Number 8 will be floated within a month. Once both ROBs are completed, Gunadala will have improved connectivity. An RUB (Road Under Bridge) from Singh Nagar to Madhura Nagar has been approved to ease traffic congestion for Vambay Colony residents. Gunadala Railway Station will become operational in six months. A 100-foot road from Gollapudi to Rayanapadu Railway Station is planned jointly by R&B and Railways.
